i am delighted that within 10 days of Mike Newell arriving at Grimsby he has got rid of Martin Butler. Why didn't Alan Buckley do that during the summer. every one knew he didn't want to play for grimsby. i have never heard of a player signing a contract which says he only has to train twice a week and play football on a saturday, we must have been desperate to sign him. What a waste of money. Bring back Gary Jones, because we now only have 2 strikers left. up the mariners.

Totally agree with you aussie - Butler is a disgrace to his profession and has robbed the club blind. Good work Mike Newell in getting rid of him. This matter should have been resolved months ago.

I don't think he should have had the remaining 6 months of his contract paid.He should have been sacked and got nothing more from us!

Gary Jones should have never been shown the door at BP. Butler had quality but a lack of desire to play in the black and white, something GJ never lacked. bring back the big front man and hes a fans favourite!
