Mike Newell inherited a terrible squad lacking in confidence and a cutting edge going forward - like the old saying goes "you can't polish a turd" so what do these so called fans expect the poor man to do? We should be grateful to Mike Newell that he decided to take us on bearing in mind the state we are in. Turning round the damage of the car crash that was Buckley's third era is not going to happen overnight. Newell has clearly already identified that we need something up front and he also knows we need to add quality in other areas too - the transfer window does not open until January so he has to work with what he's got for now. And one defeat in four games isn't too bad really? Considering the shower he has to work with its bloody good! Look at last nights game - we went toe to toe with a ten man Bradford and with more quality up front we would have made the result more respectable. We had the chances but as ever we don't have a Boulding to stick em in. Incidentally if Buckley had listened to the fans Boulding would have been lining up for us last night (ironically it might have saved him his job too!) Give Newell time - he is clearly the right man for the job; he has proven quality about him. I'm sure Mike has already identified the deadwood he needs to get rid of and with a bit of wheeling and dealing in January he will keep us up and put points on the board. And that is all that can be expected of him. It will take time, perhaps a couple of seasons for Mike to put together HIS squad and rid us of Buckley's mistakes. I'm sure Mike will also bring in his own backroom staff too. Let's not forget Mike Newell inherited the worst side in whole of the football league. Even Sir Alf, Shanks or Busby would struggle to work this lot! Town fans should get behind the manager and back him 100%. And as for Ormo who will be on soon gloating (quite rightfully too) enjoy the moment. Town will be back!!! Up the Mariners. |

And if not Boulding - then any other proven striker should have been his number one priority. Goals win games. And if you wanna stand toe to toe with me and call me an idiot then name your time and place. |

I can only hope Newell took on the job in the knowledge that fenty will be gone by Christmas. if not he and the club are doomed because he will not get any help or support while fenty the muppet is at the helm. |
