Club summary: Grimsby Santa Marina Swimming (GSM) Club was formed in 1969. In 1972 an exchange trip with a German swimming club from the town of Woltrop started and continues to this day.
GSM has roughly 130 members. The club provides lessons and training for children from the age of three-and-a-half years old, all the way through. From July 2007, the club will be taking on full-time coach Mark Foster. Mark used to swim for GSM and has successfully completed a sports science degree at Hull University. The club competes in galas in the Yorkshire and region league. It has eight qualified teachers and three assistant coaches.
Mr Brocklesby said: "As well as the obvious massive health benefits of being in the Grimsby Santa Marina swimming club, there is a lovely community spirit.
"We have a chalet at Humberston and we are often getting together for social events such as barbecues and presentation nights."
