Biography: At the start of 2006, Stuart won the Pontins Junior Festival, a big national tournament featuring the country’s best young talent. He won the 12-15 years section.

Then, in April of the same year, Stuart took part in his first ever overseas event and reached the last 32 of the prestigious European Under-19 Championship in Latvia – despite still being only 15.

He clinched a dramatic black-ball victory over Anthony McGill to win the Junior Pot Black Cup at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield – shown on BBC television.

The Scartho hotshot won his first title at Under-21 level two months later when he pipped Under-21 rankings leader Stephen Craigie 3-2 at Potters, Coalville.

Carrington rammed home his first-ever maximum break in November 2006 to further underline his credentials as a possible star of the future.

Carrington put together the faultless run during a practice session against local league player Ivan Harvey at lottery millionaire Roy Gibney’s house.

Gibney is now helping Stuart with sponsorship as he hopefully makes the transition from schoolboy star to challenger on the professional scene.
